THE CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN DIVISION
The Crimes Against Women Division of the Paris Police Department was established in 1998 to deal specifically with incidents of violent crimes against women. The goal is to decrease the number of crimes against women by dedicating one officer from the Paris Police Department and a Victim Liaison from Family Haven Crisis & Resource Center, to address this problem through enforcement action, community education and an improved working relationship between law enforcement and social services agencies.
The City of Paris Police Department provides a full-time, licensed police officer to conduct follow-up investigation related to violent crimes against women and family vilence incidents. The officer works closely with Family Haven, the County Attorney's office and other community agencies to see that the victims receive the services they need. The officer and the victim liaison keep victims informed of the status of their cases and see the victims through the criminal justice system. Our goal is that with this continued, specialized relationship between the Police Department, Family Haven and other community agencies, we can continue providing victims with the necessary assistance to break the cycle of domestic violence.
